Born in 1937 in London, Gage showed a keen interest in art and design from a young age. She went on to study at the renowned Chelsea School of Art, where she honed her skills in sculpture, drawing, and jewelry making, graduating as a designer and master goldsmith.

In 1968, she founded her eponymous jewelry brand, Elizabeth Gage Ltd., and received a major commission that same year from Cartier.
