John Gill: Artist, Ceramist, Educator

Ceramic artist John Gill has been a professor of the medium at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University since 1984. A member of the Council of the International Academy of Ceramics and recipient of an NEA Individual Artist Grant, he brings a genuine enthusiasm and joy to everything he does. In 2014 he was honored by the American Craft Council and the related interview provides a glimpse into his studio, process, and his journey to the artform.

My work uses shape and form to inflate color. Working within the realm of function expands the potential. History of ceramics, painting and sculpture collide.
