“Curating this exciting LGBTQ+ exhibition is a welcome opportunity to revisit the lives and careers of artists with whom I’ve worked for decades. Artists became friends, friends whose work I collected, believed in and wanted to share with others.

Early on David Hockney introduced Derek Jarman and his brilliant London circle, whose works came across the pond to Ten Beach Street for the first exhibition, New London in New York. Discovering the work of vibrant young talents was intoxicating: Lucio Pozzi’s student Keith Haring, Luis Frangella, Russell Sharon, David Wojnarowicz, Carlos Alfonzo, and many others.

That they were gay was not a criteria, but rather a gift. As my gallery had a reputation for new talent, that’s what counted. Looking back to a time when gay artists were marginalized or closeted, we proudly celebrate by inviting a fresh appraisal of older artists whose works were undervalued, and the excitement of coming upon new talents ready for the limelight.”
