Robert Galster (1923–1991) was best known for his work as the designer of Broadway theatre posters (William Inge’s “Bus Stop” and “The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs,” “New Faces of 1952,” etc.) and illustrations for Studs Terkel’s book Giants of Jazz, numerous children’s books and Urania LP album covers. Galster also photographed male nudes that were very much reminiscent of his contemporary, George Platt Lynes. A portfolio of Galster’s male nudes was included in the anthology Uncovered: Rare Vintage Male Nudes (Reed Massengill, Rizzoli/Universe, 2009).
