For the Birds

A Collaborative Bird Palace

A Palace for the Eastern Bluebird in situ, via Brooklyn Botanic Garden

The present work was designed for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s 2022 exhibition For the Birds, which brought together dozens of internationally recognized artists, architects, and designers to create site-specific birdhouses inspired by the garden’s avian inhabitants. A collaboration of SO–IL, Jung In Seo and Dalma Földesi, and Eventscape, A Palace for the Eastern Bluebird was inspired by “the intricate and haphazard way that birds weave their nests” and fabricated with 3D-printed clay before being installed in the BBG’s Osborne Garden.
