Renowned worldwide as a glass scholar, Franco Deboni has long been a designer of glass vessels like no other. With methods that defy the usual conception of the material—transparent, colorful, cheerful—Deboni’s work challenges one’s expectations of blown glass entirely. With a visionary focus on the possibilities of surface, the resulting vessels only hint at the material itself. The two highly textured vases presented here perfectly express the artist’s unique approach. Working spontaneously and without drawings, each vessel acts as a bold exploration of technique and the process of oxidation, resulting in magnificent crater-like objects. Franco Deboni’s body of work has been celebrated at numerous international exhibitions since 1998.
