For 800 Ways to Describe A Chair, Mančuška placed a chair against a gallery wall, and fired hundreds and hundreds of shots at it with a BB/pellet gun. The chair was removed, leaving behind a silhouette, a ghost of itself. To re-create the work, the new owner should use the original chair and pellet gun offered here in a setting of their choosing. The finished artwork is the resulting “drawing” created by the gunshot remnants.
Photos are courtesy of Andrew Kreps Gallery and represent a prior installation that was created using a different chair.
