SAM KELLER is an artist based in Los Angeles whose diverse body of work spans sculpture, painting, and mixed media. Central to his artistic exploration is the examination of both the aesthetic and functional boundaries of discarded consumer goods. Keller’s artistry thrives on playful transformations, where everyday items such as crushed beverage cans are reimagined as lavish, Swarovski-studded sculptures, or humble Cheeto Puffs are elevated into geometric marvels. Through this process, familiar mass-produced products are imbued with new meaning, turning them into unique art objects. 

Keller holds a BFA in Painting from The Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Sculpture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work has garnered attention not least through solo exhibitions at venues including Louis Buhl & Co. in Detroit, Andrew Rafacz Gallery in Chicago, and Ed. Varie in New York. Additionally, his art has been featured in group exhibitions at prominent galleries including Suomei Gallery in Shanghai, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco and Los Angeles, the East Hampton Shed, Eric Firestone Gallery in East Hampton, My Pet Ram in New York, and Martha’s Contemporary in Austin, Texas.

If asked to select one word to describe Patrick, I would resist and pick two. The first would be curiosity — a fundamental essential, to stimulate inquiry and rigour in all things, both great and small, of any era or region, type or surface. Even the most fleeting survey of this selection for sale is a celebration of innovation and of inspiration — an unerring eye for the unusually exceptional, or perhaps the exceptionally unusual. The chances are, that these are indeed discoveries that you have not yet realised that you needed to make. 

Mentor, would be my second word. If artefacts and objects articulate visual, cultural and historic language, then the fluency of skillful mentorship — to guide, nurture, describe and explain — releases the eloquence of murmuring histories. In this capacity Patrick is that most earnest and sincere of excellent narrators. If ever I had friends, clients or colleagues visiting New York looking for unusual inspiration, there was always the certainty that Patrick’s venues would offer them a glimpse of the hitherto unseen or the unusually seductive, always with the reassurance of the most fascinating story waiting to be told.
