British artist Patrick Hughes created the “reverspective”, an optical illusion on a three-dimensional surface in which the parts of the composition that seem farthest away are actually the nearest.

The present lot is painted on a board constructed with four pyramids, and what appears to the eye as a doorway in the background is actually protruding from the surface of the work.
