Inspired by the paintings of Wassily Kandinsky and the ballet theater of the Bauhaus, Adam D. Tihany and Joseph Mancini designed the K6 Wassily table lamp for Foscarini in 1985. Thought of more as illuminated sculpture than lamps, the Wassily series features solid forms in primary colors connected by polished metal mountings. Notably in the Memphis style, each lamp was fabricated with techniques handed down through generations of Murano glass artisans and represents a culmination of storied tradition, remarkable craftsmanship, and modern design.
