Artist Duncan Spencer painted this charming mural from a small period pin to be a focal point at the end of a long walkway in We The People, a Bicentennial exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, Washington D.C. that opened in June 1975. Ultimately, the museum curators chose a patriotic-themed carpet that was a presidential gift from the Shah of Iran.
Sold with the turn-of-the-century pin that inspired Spencer's 1975 mural.
