The mythical Orvis 'Solunagraph' made by Heuer is one of those watches that you cannot understand until you hold one. Orvis, a fly-fishing equipment company, commissioned Heuer to make watches that they could sell both by catalog and in retail locations. Upon the release of the 'Solunagraph', the tide indicator on the dial was a big hit with fisherman to tell them when high and low tides would occur.
The 'Solunagraph' has a similarly fitting 'compressor' case as the early Heuer Autavia, which makes it a robust and adventurous watch. Heuer watches with double-signed dials are especially uncommon in the world of watch collecting. From this era, the rarity of the Orvis-signed Heuer is only matched by that of the Abercrombie & Fitch-signed Heuer watches. The present example is in seemingly excellent condition with a beautifully faded bezel and original case finishing.
