A very rare unreleased large format photograph taken with the automatic high definition Fairchild metric camera mounted on the SIM bay of the Service Module and operated by Ronald Evans.
Numbered to margin 'AS17 1666'.

This magnificent and very detailed photograph was taken looking southwest from an altitude of 107 km with the 3-inch focal length of the automatic Fairchild metric camera mounted on the SIM bay of the Service Module and operated by Ronald Evans during the 36th revolution of the spacecraft around the Moon.

The Haemus mountains form the southwestern shore of the Sea of Serenity in the foreground. The 27-km wide and 3 km deep Crater Menelaus is at center left and the 38-km wide and 3 km deep Crater Manilius at right.
