Mathematica is one of the most influential exhibitions in the museum world. Sponsored by IBM, it was initially designed for the Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles, opening in March 1961. Eight months later a duplicate version went on view at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Elements of Mathematica were on display at the New York World’s Fair, the Time & Life Building in New York City, and at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. Today, the original Los Angles Mathematica is at the New York Hall of Science Center, the Chicago version is at the Museum of Science, Boston, and elements from various locations have been assembled at The Henry Ford, Dearborn, Michigan.
