The outline of this unique work was drawn by Ray Eames and cut by Eames Office employee and designer, Robert Staples (1933–2021). Unlike the three other known splint sculptures, this example is not painted and Ray's original pencil outline is visible along the edge.
Impressed manufacturer's mark to front ‘S2-1790’. Sold with an Evans Production plywood splint in original packaging.
