It is difficult to say what I am thinking of when I begin a painting [...] I believe what I have in mind is more a feeling of great spirits, real presence, of an ancient mentor. It’s just something in the back of my mind, nothing really concrete. The idea is to give spiritual nourishment. So you put into it spiritual feeling.
