Call Trevor

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people. Launched in 1998 by producers Peggy Rajski and Randy Stone, the project emerged from their one-man show Word of Mouth, later developed into the award-winning short film, Trevor. After securing a spot to air the film on HBO, Stone came to the realization that there was no real place for young people like Trevor to turn to for support. Moving quickly, he began to recruit mental health professionals and build the infrastructure for a crisis hotline. The Trevor Lifeline premiered on HBO with the groundbreaking film, and since then hundreds of thousands of young people have reached out for live-saving and life-affirming support, counseling and community. 

The proceeds from the sale of this work, including buyer’s premium, will be donated to support The Trevor Project and their life-saving mission.

I don’t focus on the face in my paintings...I bring the attention to the unspoken body language of the models, and their accoutrements. Often times it is a gesture or posture that I’m interested in. It’s there that I see the history of figure and portrait painting. There’s a similar language to presenting one’s best, with undertones of hiding. We know clothes are used to cover us up – they always tell us about what we are hiding from ourselves and each other.
