oak, walnut burl, beryllium copper and brass, aluminum dowels, plastic coated wire, washi paper, enameled steel 108¾ h × 35 dia in (276 × 89 cm)
This work, conceived by Thomas Zung, president of Buckminster Fuller, Sadao and Zung Architects, was created in homage to four influential and iconic creative minds whose work, while entirely original, resonated on a deeper level. The idea was to create a collaborative work that honored each artist and their production. This unique and special tribute was realized by Buckminster Fuller, the Noguchi Foundation, Val Bertoia, Celia Bertoia and Mira Nakashima. Proceeds will benefit the Nakashima Foundation for Peace.
This work is comprised of an Isamu Noguchi Akari lamp, a Val Bertoia sounding sculpture, a Buckmister Fuller Geodesic Tensegrity Sphere, a Mira Nakashima table top mounted on custom base by Nakashima Studios. Signed and dated to underside of table top ‘Mira Nakashima May 10 2021’. Incised signature to one rod ‘R. Buckminster Fuller’. Printed signature to shade ‘I. Noguchi’ with red circle and half moon. Sold with a certificate issued by Val Bertoia.
This work will ship from Rago in Lambertville, New Jersey.
