Crow Island School was established in 1940-41and is operated by Winnetka Public Schools. The elementary school is significant for its progressive philosophy and its International Style architecture. The building design was a collaboration between Eliel and Eero Saarinen and the Chicago firm of Perkins, Wheeler and Will; in 1990, the building was declared a national historic landmark.
