By the early 1950s, Paolo Venini had become a masterful glass designer. He and his “part-time” artistic director, the idiosyncratic Fulvio Bianconi, would spar, co-design and compete as artists and designers until Paolo’s untimely death in 1959. This playful, and at times heated, dance can be seen in the wide variety of interrelated designs they created in the 1950s.
