John Scott Bradstreet completed many private commissions in Minneapolis throughout his career including the home of department store founder, Lawrence Donaldson. It is likely that the present lot, a green-stained jin-di-sugi library table, was originally installed in the Japanese-inspired sunroom of the Donaldson home. Two similar jin-di-sugi panels from the Donaldson sunroom were included in the Minnesota 1900: Art and Life on the Upper Missisippi exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in 1994.
