Employment as an artist in pre-war Germany was difficult to come by, and many creatives were relegated to producing designs for mass production. Nevertheless, glimmers of avant-garde energy are visible in many commonplace designs from the period. Drawn to the modern sensibility evident in this tableware, Champion amassed his collection over a period of thirty years.
Collection includes twenty plates and platters of various sizes. Stamped manufacturer's mark to reverse of sixteen examples ‘Germany’.
