An Icon of American Photography

Important Collection of Works by O. Winston Link

Wright is excited to present nearly sixty works by O. Winston Link from the collection of Thomas Garver, an art historian and the former assistant director of the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University. Garver worked as a studio assistant for Link in the late 1950s and they remained close until Link's death in 2001. Garver championed Link's legacy through curating exhibitions and publishing scholarly research featuring his first-hand accounts of assisting Link on the elaborate and laborious shoots. Link was a pioneering photographer, best known for his technical mastery and for documenting the waning years of steam powered trains and a now-bygone era of America with great sensitivity and a theatrical mood.
