An Important Graphic Collection from the 1925
Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs

The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts of 1925 was originally planned for ten years prior, however the outbreak of war and economic uncertainly postponed the exhibition several times before organizes settled on a date. Championed by the Société des Artistes Décorateurs as a spectacle devoted entirely to the decorative arts, the exhibition was a huge success, visited by sixteen million people during its seven-month run. A landmark event, the exhibition gave rise to a new international style throughout Europe and America, and named the design movement Art Deco.

The present lot is an important collection of graphics created as promotional material for the exhibition. Comprised of one of each of the four posters commissioned for the exhibition, one commemorative certificate given to exhibitors and judges, a poster advertising the sale of bonds for the exhibition and an actual bond, each work in this comprehensive collection reflects a new visual image, one that envisioned a bright and prosperous future for France.
