When we acquired this piece—whose origins aside from being Italian, custom-made and quintessentially 60s, remain a mystery—we were faced with the challenge of having it re-covered. We enlisted the help of an upholsterer who spent some 30+ years working for Knoll. Apparently our sofa, whose stitches follow the lines of the human hand, was one of the most difficult upholstery jobs of his career. It was relayed to us that at one point he almost cried!
