This design is one of four works comprising the Four Seasons series Jongerius did in collaboration with the nearly three-hundred year old famed German porcelain manufacturer, Nymphenburg. The sculpted heads of the candle holder, hand mirror, teapot and wine jug depict the Roman gods and goddesses Ceres, Pomona, Flora and Bacchus, representing the four seasons. The designs were inspired by ones found in the Nymphenburg archives.

Why make new stuff every year? I believe a designer can use her talent to update a collection...I'm happy to work on the classics.
