This prototype table features a large top with a small triangle pattern, details that do not appear on production examples. It was acquired in the late 1990s through Marshall Girard, Alexander and Susan’s son. The present owner, who was living in Santa Fe at the time, was invited to purchase the works after Susan’s death in 1996. Until then, this prototype table and lots 172 and 174 had remained in the Girard's personal collection at their home and studio on Calle Loma Norte in Santa Fe.
