Bob’s collecting sensibilities were refreshing for Chicago in the 1970’s because of his uncharacteristic independence. His purchases of works of art did not reflect the current trends within the local museums, nor did it imitate the taste of other collectors in the area...Robert Vogele has for me, as well as for many of my colleagues, been a constant source of encouragement, a prudent and sober advisor, and always a friend.
