Wright Auction

These vases were created for Alcoa's 1959 Design Forecast program using the impact process, which showcased the new design possibilities of aluminum using various metalworking methods. The project featured works by well-known designers including Charles Eames, Paul McCobb, Eliot Noyes, Florence Knoll, Alexander Girard and Isamu Noguchi. Alcoa, one of the largest producers of aluminum in the world, was an early adopter of incorporating the emerging modernist aesthetic into widely produced designs and marketing them as visions of the future of design and living.
