Signed, dated and numbered to base 'Hiro Ando January 2015 2/8'. This work is number 2 from the edition of 8 published by Crazy Noodles Studio, Tokyo. Sold with a certificate of authenticity from the artist's studio. This work is based on a character from the novel Battle Royale by Koushun Takami.

This work by Hiro Ando is from the Schoolgirl Series, which is based on characters from Koushun Takami's 1996 novel, Battle Royale (バトル・ロワイアル). The novel takes place in a fictional fascist Japan, where a government sponsored program, "Battle Experiment No. 68," forces fifty randomly chosen junior high students to fight to the death each year on a remote island. When it was published in 1999, it was a bestseller, despite its violent content; it went on to become a manga series in 2000 and was adapted to film by the great Japanese genre director Kinji Fukasaku.
