Information View Lots View Catalog

On July 13th, Wright presents A Life in Ruins: Douglas Dawson, 35 Years of Art and Antiques, an auction celebrating the renowned Chicago gallery dedicated to the rich and varied world of non-Western art. This curated sale features works collected from remote corners of the globe—Indonesian sculpture, African stools and chairs, ritual objects from central Asia and much more—works that have inspired 20th century Western art and design practice.

All lots from this sale will be on view in Chicago beginning
July 6th with an evening reception on July 11th.

With its fine examples of ethnographic art,
Douglas Dawson provided a fresh context for
understanding the enduring influence of
non-Western art on the Western imagination.

As our world becomes more automated, the necessity for preserving these artifacts and the ancient traditions they represent becomes more and more critical.
