Although one of the most influential industrial 20th century designers in Japan for decades, Sori Yanagi remained underappreciated and largely unknown, even in Japan. The following two stools with cast metal legs were originally designed and produced by Yanagi for an exhibition of his work in the 1970s. The edition was not available at that time and it wasn’t until the 1990s that Yanagi approached the talented, albeit small atelier, BC Kobo for the production of the form.
