From 1968 to 1984 Herman Miller gave upholstered RAR-1 chairs as gifts to employees with newborn babies. The chairs could be personalized with different fabric and shell combinations and finished with a plaque inscribed with the child's name and birthdate.
Signed with molded manufacturer's mark to reverse: [Herman Miller]. Signed with applied plaque to backrest: [To Stuart Lloyd Vollmer III from Herman Miller Inc. September 17, 1982].
