During the 1950s and 1960s there was a demand for new accessible designs in post-war France. French designers and architects responded by focusing on modernization through collaboration with industry. Designers such as Joseph-Andre Motte and Henri Lesêtre embraced new materials and technologies to create radically innovative forms that redefined the urban living environment.
Henri Lesêtre's desk was first presented at the Société des Artistes-Décorateurs in 1968. Approximately ten examples of this form were produced, each featuring a different color or finish. Desk features two drawers and a flip-top surface concealing small adjustable compartments.
