ASSAULT

A work by Gregory Green

Gregory Green’s Assault (Single Grinder Wall Piece) features an operating circular saw blade that, when turned on, shoots sparks out from the wall. Dangerous and imposing, this work (as its title suggests) assaults the onlooker with sparks that invade the space traditionally reserved for viewing a work of art.

Gregory Green explores systems of control related to social and political change, his works dealing with issues of violence and technology and their effects on the accessibility of information and on individual and/or group empowerment. His works can be found in various public and private collections worldwide, including: The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Tate Gallery, London and The Mori Museum, Tokyo.

The work is accompanied by a letter from the artist that is typed on the exterior of an envelope containing installation, operation and maintenance instructions for this work.
