Architect and designer Samuel Marx was an avid collector. He viewed the world with a keen eye and often appropriated furniture forms – from antiques to designs by his contemporaries – using them in his signature interiors. Along with furniture, he drew inspiration from the arts including works by Diego Giacometti, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Joan Miro.
