These six bas-reliefs were originally part of a decorative scheme comprised of thirty Carrara marble panels designed and carved in the mid-sixties for the Sant Ambroeus coffee house in Milan. In 1981, a number of these panels were relocated and installed in the New York branch of Sant Ambroeus.
