The following nine lots originally furnished the Paris apartment of Mr. and Mrs. William Kugel in the early 1930s. Acquiring works directly from Thonet and DIM, the Kugel’s decorated their apartment in avant-garde style. During World War II, the Kugel’s relocated and the contents of the apartment were shipped to Quebec and then finally to Beverly Hills. In Los Angeles, William Kugel continued to patronize artists including Gertrud and Otto Natzler, amassing one of the largest private collections of their work.
