The Porsgruun marble in Kjaerholm's table designs illustrates a refined application of a rare, natural material. Kjaerholm utilized only a handful of materials that together achieved his desire to encapsulate the natural within ordered, architectural forms. The Porsgruun marble Kjaerholm used was mined in Norway for a short time, and is no longer available because of a mine collapse. The finest stones display contrasting areas of light and dark stone infused with fossils. Signed with impressed manufacturer's mark to frame.
