The simplicity of this table belies the elegance and craftsmanship of such a large-scale design. The book matched, sap grain top is joined by five rosewood butterfly joints, resting on two plinths; the ten-foot surface expands in a dramatically rectilinear fashion. Tables of this size are a rarity in the market; Nakashima created this form specifically for the residence of architect John Hoffman, a home designed in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright.
