This rare Donald Deskey complete dining room set is one of the most important Deskey ensembles to appear at auction. The original drawings for W. & J. Sloane are in the Deskey archives at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, illustrating each design in the set. Exhibited at the 1936 Design Trend show organized by Ely Jacques Kahn and the committee on Allied Arts, this group is sold with a 1936 issue of The Architectural Forum in which the set appears.
Lot includes buffet, china cabinet, two door cabinet, eight side chairs, two armchairs and dining table: 58 w x 40 d x 30 h, with two 15 inch leaves.
