The PK 25 design was created as a graduate school project while Kjaerholm studied at the Danish School of Arts, Crafts, and Design and presented in 1952. Spatial considerations are evident in the accentuated lines and forceful angles of the structure. The steel form and braided seat emit both a sense of transparency and stability. These chairs are from the early production years with Fritz Hansen, 1952-1956. E. Kold Christensen manufactured them from 1956-1982, at which time Fritz Hansen again took over production. To date, fewer than ten original examples of this design have been known to exist. This sale represents the first occasion on which a pair of these chairs has been offered at auction.
