The Dandelion series by Bertoia combines the kinetic movement of the sounding sculptures with the natural quality of his Bush Form series. Bertoia utilized his Dandelion sculptures for several commissions including the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha (1972) and the Eastman Kodak pavilion at the New York World's Fair (1964). This dandelion is an early example from this series.
