A wonderful, historical object, painted by Georges Schreiber, the egg is a tribute to the Associated American Artist's Gallery and depicts many of its members:
Schreiber himself, in a painting being carried by Reeves Lewenthal, who was the owner and director of the gallery, Aaron Bohrod is shown with one of his fabric designs, Marion Greenwood (as a fantasy woman), and George Grosz (with rats and bats) amongst others.
