The following two lots are from a private residential commission in Paris c. 1927. A contemporary of Pierre Chareau and Eileen Gray, Mallet-Stevens was deeply involved with the work of Josef Hoffmann and Gerrit Rietveld. The Paris Exposition of 1925 championed a more decorative Art Deco design aesthetic; however, Mallet-Stevens was a pioneering functionalist. combining minimalist design with luxurious appointment.
