Pierre Guariche was trained under the pioneering French modernist Rene Gabriel at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. Guariche quickly developed his own modern style and developed the first molded plywod chair in France. He is widely known for his lighting of which his finest examples are offered here. The Standard floor lamp has solid brass spheres which act simultaneously as counterweight, pivot and design element in this sculptural light.
