In 1951, the New York firm of Singer & Sons began importing Italian furniture by top designers such as Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi and Carlo Mollino. This monumental cabinet by Ponti is one of the finest piece from that line. The upper display unit hovers weightlessly above solid plinth that is held aloft by six tapered legs. Four curved shelves protrude from the white background as does a drop front writing surface with four tiny glass shelves inside. Four book matched doors conceal six drawers. Signed with branded marks: [Made in Italy].
