(image) framed. On the advice of a friend at Cranbrook, Bertoia sent almost 100 of his prints to Rebay for her criticism. "To his amazement, he received a telegram asking the price for the entire group."(In Search of the Spirit of Art, The Biography of Hilla Rebay) It is very likely that this print was among the works Bertoia sold to Rebay. Rebay was the first important champion of Bertoia's art and arranged to include several of his monoprints in exhibitions at the Museum of Non-Objective Painting in the early 1940s.
