Throughout his artistic career Peter Voulkos traveled, giving lectures and demonstrating his mastery of abstract expression in clay. Vessels created by Voulkos during demonstrations and workshops are tactile records of the performance of creating ceramic sculpture. This lot by Peter Voulkos was created at the event Pyroman Meets Gorilla at Rochester Community College, Minnesota in May of 1975. The present owner, a close friend of the artist, acquired this work at the workshop.
Sold with copies of several photographs documenting the creation of this form.
