Ponti's use of the lattice construction became a repeated theme in his design from the 1930s and 1950s. This table utilizes a tapering and slightly flaring leg placing the design firmly within the context of Ponti's neo-classical period of the 1930s. Ponti chose variations of this design for several important Milanese commissions including Casa La Porte (1935) and Casa Borletti (1936).
